Rams Honor Seniors at URI Coaches Invitational, Compete at BU Valentine Invitational

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island women's track & field team won nine different events at the URI Coaches Invitational at Mackal Fieldhouse and sent a group of runners to the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University on Saturday afternoon. 

Seniors Linsey Arends, Kayla Clark, Leyla Kvaternik, Joyce London, Molly Long, Kiley Mironenko, Sofia Piccone, Olivia Skapczynski, Madeline Till, Makenzie Wagner, and Alexis Zarr were all honored prior to the meet in Kingston. 

Runners Zoe Catrambone, Keira Cleary, Reagan Garibaldi, Anna-Rose Merchant, Nyah Santana, Lily Saul, and Madeline Till all made the trip to Boston. 

Highlights from the URI Coaches Invitational 
  • Lily MacDonald won the long jump with a final mark of 17' 8.25".
  • Kiley Mironenko finished fifth in the triple jump after leaping 34' 8.5".
  • Rhode Island had two finishers in the top 10 of the shot put. Alyssa Yankee finished fourth (42' 9.5") and Elizabeth Dankwa finished 10th (37' 6.75"). 
  • The Rams had two top five finishers in the weight throw. Yankee finished third (52' 11") and Madison Boucher finished fourth (51' 5"). 
  • Macy Daigle won the high jump with a final mark of 5' 5".
  • Josie Allred and Alexis Zarr finished tied for third in the high jump (5' 1"). 
  • Five Rams were in the top 10 of the pole vault including Allison Vigue who won the event after clearing 12' 4". 
  • Olivia Priest finished third (12'), Sarah Shipton finished eighth (11' 0.25"), and Greta Dahl and Charlotte Moscovici each cleared 11' 0.25" to finish ninth and tenth place, respectively. 
  • Zarah Singleton finished second in the 60m hurdles (8.78) and fourth in the 60m dash (7.89).
  • Sofia Piccone finished second in the mile (5:14.34) with Jordan Hadfield (5:14.62) behind her in third, and Gwen McCloughan (5:16.28) in fourth. 
  • Abby Colella won the 400m dash (57.13).
  • Kelsey Wolff won the 800m run with a time of 2:15.59.
  • Rhode Island had the top three finishers in the 1000m run. Kvater Kvaternik finished first (2:58.45), Alison Pankowicz placed second (2:59.75), and Olivia Skapczynski rounded out the top three (3:00.42).
  • The top four spots in the 3000m all went to Rams. McCloughan (10:24.95) held the top spot, Hailey LaRosa was second (10:26.47), Piccone placed third (10:28.15), and Jordan Hadfield was fourth (10:29.69).
  • The group of Wolff, Kvaternik, Pankowicz, and Keaney Bayha won the 4x800 with a time of 9:44.89.
  • Joyce London, Sydney Haik, Laurel Filiberto, and Dahl won the 4x400 with a time of 4:00.50.

Rhode Island will compete at Brown University's Brown Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 21. The meet is set for a 10 a.m. start.
