VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Behind four first-place finishes, including two individual efforts from
Lily Saul, Rhode Island finished second in the 2026 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship. Rhode Island collected 120 team points, narrowly finishing behind VCU who won the team championship after collecting 122.5 points. It was the Rams best finish in the Indoor Championship since coming in second place at the 2016 Indoor Championship.
Saul led the way for Rhode Island with three gold and one silver medal finishes and took home the meet's Most Outstanding Track Performer. Saul became the first runner and second athlete in program history to earn three gold medals at the A-10 Indoor Championship. Pascale Delaunay won gold medals in the high jump, triple jump, and long jump in 2004.
Rhode Island also had gold medal finishes from
Zarah Singleton in the 60m hurdles and the team of Saul,
Nyah Santana,
Reagan Garibaldi, and
Abigail Colella finished first in the 4x400m relay. Singleton was named Most Outstanding Rookie.
Highlights
- Lily Saul won the mile with a time of 4:44.40 and earned Rhode Island 10 points. Saul finished roughly 10 seconds in front of Richmond's Hallie Muniz who took home second place (4:54.14).
- Saul's time in the mile is the eighth best time in program history.
- Saul also won the 1000m with a personal best time of 2:46.86. That is the second individual and overall time in program history. It is also a new meet record.
- Zarah Singleton won the 60m hurdles with a personal best time of 8.39 seconds collecting another 10 points for the Rams. Singleton's time is the fastest in program history and a meet record.
- Singleton also finished fourth in the 60m (7.58). That is the third fastest individual time and tied for the fourth overall time in program history.
- The team of Saul, Nyah Santana, Reagan Garibaldi, and Abigail Colella finished first in the 4x400m relay (3:47.37).
- Garibaldi collected eight points for Rhode Island after finishing second in the 400m with a personal best time of 55.74. That is the eighth fastest individual time in program history.
- Colella finished second in the 500m (1:15.65), earning 8 points for the Rams.
- Olivia Priest took home second place in the pole vault after clearing 12' 3.50".
- The team Catrambone, Saul, Till and Kelsey Wolff ran the 4x800m relay in 8:57.02 and placed second.
- Macy Daigle finished third in the high jump (5' 7").
- Lily MacDonald was fifth in the triple jump (39' 8").
- Alyssa Yankee scored Rhode Island three points after finishing sixth in the shot put (42' 4").
- Madison Boucher finished 10th in the weight throw with a toss of 51' 9.25".
- Zoe Catrambone (2:12.06) and Madeline Till (2:13. 47) finished fifth and sixth in the 800m.
