Daigle Wins High Jump, Rams In Fourth After Day One of New England's

Results

BOSTON, Mass. - Macy Daigle is the 2026 New England Women's Indoor Track and Field champion in the high jump, leading the Rhode Island contingent on the first day of the regional championship.

Her performance and a win for the Rams in the 4000-meter distance medley relay sparked Rhode Island to fourth place in the New England Championship after one day of competition. Sacred Heart (45), Bryant (36) and Quinnipiac (32) are the teams ahead of URI in the 18-team competition.

With her leap of 1.7 meters (5 feet, 7 inches), Daigle scored 10 points for the Rams. She edged Sacred Heart's Kaitlyn Caraco (1.67 meters) to win the event. It capped a strong week for Daigle, who placed third in the same event at the 2026 Atlantic 10 on Feb. 28.

The quartet of Olivia Skapczynski, Joyce London, Lilly Pittakas and Alison Pankowicz delivered a gold medal performance in the 4000-meter distance medley relay. Rhode Island was more than eight seconds ahead of the field with a time of 12:04.21, well ahead of second-place Quinnipiac (12:12.83). URI picked up 10 more team points in the event.

Highlights from Competition
  • A pair of Rams earned points in the weight throw. Madison Boucher scored four points with a fifth-place finish (16.29 meters) and Alyssa Yankee added two points by finishing seventh (15.72 meters).
  • Hailey LaRosa and Gwen McCloughan finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 5000-meter run. LaRosa contributed two team points with her time of 17:43.75, while McCoughlan's time of 17:46.67 added one more point.
  • Emma Halsey placed eighth in the pentathlon with a score of 2,254 points to earn one team point.
  • The Rams also dominated 500-meter dash prelims, getting five of the eight spots in the finals for the event. Keira Cleary (1:15.87), Anna-Rose Merchant (1:16.70); Sydney Haik (1:16.83); and Laurel Filiberto (1:17.59) had the four fastest times in the prelims. Greta Dahl (1:17.98) was seventh in the qualifying round, giving URI five scorers in one event.
  • Similar dominance happened in the 800-meter prelims. URI's Zoe Catrambone (2:13.35) and Kelsey Wolff (2:14.12) had the two fastest qualifying times, while Madeline Till was fourth with her time of 2:17.41.
  • Reagan Garibaldi advanced to the finals of two events, the 200- and 400-meter dashes. In the 200, she was sixth in prelims with a time of 25.43 seconds. In the 400, her time of 56.30 was the second fastest qualifying time.
  • Two Rams advanced in the 1000-meter run, as Lily Saul was third in prelims with a time of 2:58.18 and Leyla Kvaternick was sixth in a time of 3:01.69.
  • Allison Vigue scored one team point by placing eighth in the pole vault at a height of 3.62 meters.
Saturday Events
  • In addition to the finals leftover from Frday, the remaining preliminary rounds coming o Saturday are the 60-meter hurdles; 60-meter dash; 1-mile run; 3,000-meter run, 4x800-meter relay and the 4x400-meter relay.
  • Saturday's field events include the triple jump and shot put.
