RHODE ISLAND AT SAINT LOUIS - SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island is 20-19 all time against Saint Louis.Â
- The first meeting between the Rams and Bonnies was in 1982Â and the most recent meeting was on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Capital One Park in Tysons, Va. in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Championship.
- The Rams defeated the Billikens 8-2 to advance to the 2025 A-10 Championship game.Â
- Rhode Island swept Saint Louis in a three-game series during the 2025 regular season in Kingston on May 10 & May 11, 2025.
- Despite winning the last four games against Saint Louis, Rhode Island was swept in its last visit to the Billikens in 2024.Â
RECAPPING LAST YEAR'S SEMIFINAL MEETING
- Rhode Island clinched its spot in the A-10 Championship game with an 8-2 win over Saint Louis in last year's A-10 Championship semifinals.Â
- The game was tied at 2-2 entering the eighth inning. Rhode Island scored six runs over the course of the next two innings to secure the win.
- Rhode Island grads Nic Notarangelo and Eric Genther each homered in the game. Current Rhode Island short shop Reece Moroney also homered.Â
- Second baseman Scott Penney had a sacrifice fly RBI in the game.
- Rhode Island's pitching led the way for the Rams. Former Ram Jeremy Urena pitched 6.2 innings and allowed two runs while striking out five.
- The bullpen effort made up of Parker Aikens and Joe Sabbath pitched the final 2.1 innings allowing no hits and striking out four.
MORONEY NAMED BROOKS WALLACE AWARD SEMIFINALIST
- Shortstop Reece Moroney was named a finalist for the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List, presented by the College Baseball Foundation, the organization announced.
- The award named for former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace, who played for the Red Raiders from 1977 to 1980. Wallace died of leukemia at the age of 27.
- Moroney is one of 50Â shortstops from around the country to earn the recognition based on both their offensive and defensive production this season.Â
- He joins Owen Clyne (George Mason) and Dyerson Wouters (Dayton) from fellow Atlantic 10 schools.Â
- Offensively, Moroney leads the Rams in batting average (.363), RBI (36), hits (57), doubles (12), OPS (.908), and on base percentage (.418).
- His batting average is fourth-best in the Atlantic 10 and 90th nationally.
- Defensively, he has a .974 fielding percentage with a team-high 94 assists and four errors.
