Hopko, King, Moroney Highlight End-of-Season Awards

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island infielders Reece Moroney and Ryan King, and outfielder Jack Hopko all earned postseason honors from the Atlantic 10, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon. Moroney was the league's Defensive Player of Year and an All-Conference Second Team selection. Hopko was named to the All-Conference First Team, and both Hopko and King earned All-Academic nods.

Moroney was named to the All-Conference Second Team for the second straight season and the won his first career Defensive Player of the Year award. He has started all 52 games at short stop for Rhode Island while posting a .963 field percentage. His 124 assists in 2026 is currently the fifth-most in the A-10. Offensively, Moroney has 78 hits which is tied for the ninth-most in a single season in program history. His hit total is tied for third-most in the A-10 and is ranked 43rd nationally.

Hopko picked up his accolades after an impressive 2026 regular season. The senior has started 51 of Rhode Island's 52 games while batting .290 with 18 home runs and 54 RBI. Hopko's 18 homers is second most in a single-season in program history and third-most in the A-10 this season. This is his second consecutive year on the league's All-Conference First-Team. 

Off the field, Hopko has excelled in the classroom earning a 3.85 GPA as a business administration major. He was also named the Albert LeBoeuf Award winner for Rhode Island Athleticsrecognizing the most outstanding graduating male student-athlete who has been a role model in his collegiate career and has maintained good academic standing.

King rounded out Rhode Island's representation in the A-10 end-of-season awards. The Bernardsville, N.J. native was chosen to the league's All-Academic team after batting .327 and earning a 4.0 GPA in URI's Master's of Business Administration program. King's batting average is inside the league's top 25. He also hit 20 extrabase hits this season. 

The Rams are back in action tomorrow, Tuesday, May 20 at 11 a.m. in the first round of the A-10 Championship.
