DAVIDSON, N.C. - Rhode Island finished 10th out of 13 teams at the River Run Collegiate Tuesday afternoon.

First-year player Jack Quinn led the Rams with a top-20 finish. He tied for 18th place in the 74-player field and was 5-over par for the tournament.

"Jack emerged this week and is our best player right now," Rhode Island head coach Gregg Burke said. "Tony Liu and Josiah Tong played a lot of very good golf and aside from the final round, Owen Rooney was terrific."

Team captain Josiah Tong and fellow fourth-year player Tony Liu provided the top team scores during Tuesday's final round. Tong carded four birdies and shot an even-par 72. Liu was 1-under over his final nine holes and finished the round plus-2. Liu finished the tournament in a tie for 32nd, while Tong tied for 38th.

URI's fourth scorer was Owen Rooney, who was very strong through his first 12 holes. Rooney started the round with a bogey on hole N0. 9, but then he was 1-under for his next 11 holes. Two bogeys and two double bogeys in his final six holes hurt his final score in an otherwise solid tournament as he finished 14-over par for the three rounds.  

"We've done more qualifying than practicing, so hopefully having more practices will make us a little sharper."

Rhode Island has a quick turnaround, as it heads to the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse from Sunday, Sept. 27 through Tuesday, Sept. 29.
