KINGSTON, R.I. – Freshman
Julianna Tyler set a meet record in the 200-yard butterfly on the final day of the Harold Anderson Invitational to help Rhode Island finish second out of eight teams in the meet.
Vermont defended its title, leading the field with 849 points. Rhode Island (752), Wagner (529), Maine (515.5) and Holy Cross (507) rounded out the top five.
Tyler's record time in the 200 butterfly led a strong Rhody performance in the event. URI had three of the top eight finishers, scoring 47 team points. Tyler – who also won the 400 Individual medley this weekend – scored 20 points.
Ella Hacker placed third and scored 16 points, while
Emma Lee was eighth and added 11 points to URI's total.
Standouts in the Pool
- Freshman Addi Wood led Rhode Island in the 1650-yard freestyle, placing second with a time of 17:27.01. She was one of three Rams to score in the event. Junior Maddie Tetreault was fourth with her time of 17:40.79, good for 15 points, while freshman Cate Carboni scored five points with a 13th place finish.
- Tetreault also placed eight in the 200 backstroke, scoring 11 more points. Junior Kelsey KcMenemy placed third with a time of 2:03.92, giving URI 16 team points.
- Junior Hannah Benavides placed second in the 200 breaststroke. Her time of 2:19.67 netted 17 team points.
- Freshman Megan Huntley and sophomore Rylee Kelly were fifth and seventh in the 100 freestyle, respectively.
- The team of Megan Huntley, Avery Potyrala, Mia Bonvissuto and Rylee Kelly combined for a fourth-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay.
