Rams In Second Place After Day One of Anderson Invitational

KINGSTON, R.I.
– Rhode Island's divers combined for 45 points in the 3-meter event to help the Rams finish Day one of the Harold Anderson Invitational in second place Friday.

Sophomore Lily Hsu placed second in the event with a score of 291.10. She was just .35 points behind Maine's Ashley LeClaire, settling for 17 team points. Rhode Island got a fourth-place finish from Anna Petke (15 points) and a sixth-place from Carleigh Schlissel (13) in what was URI's strongest event of the day.

Vermont leads the eight-team field with 280 points, with URI the only school within striking distance, as the Rams have 242 points. Rounding out the top five were Maine (170.5), Holy Cross (165) and Wagner (160.5)

Standouts from the Pool
Sophomore Rylee Kelly placed fourth in the 500 freestyle to give the Rams 15 points. Mia Bonvissuto added five points with a 12th place finish.

Freshman Julianna Tyler finished fifth in the 200 Individual Medley, providing URI with 14 points. Junior Hannah Benavides was seventh in the event, adding 12 more points, while junior Sarah Koenig was 11th for six points.

Freshmen Avery Potyrala and Megan Huntley placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 50-yard freestyle for the Rams. They scored 27 of URI's 33 points in the event.

Rhode Island began the day with 56 points in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay. The team of Abby Zadorozny, Quinn Frost, Avery Potyrala and Megan Huntley scored 30 points with a fourth-place finish. The team of Mia Bonvissuto, Rylee Kelly, Mackenzie Thomas and Casey Fusco added 26 points with a seventh-place finish.

The Rams capped the day with 56 points in the 400 Medley Relay. Kelsey McMenemy, Hannah Benavides, Ella Hacker and Avery Potyrala scored 30 points with a fourth-place finish. The team of Jackie Triglia, Logan Norrid, Julianna Tyler and Abby Zadorozny placed sixth to score 26 team points.
