How It Happened
Sophomore
Hannah Benavides had Rhode Island's top individual swimming performance thus far at the 2023 Atlantic 10 Women's Swimming & Diving Championship.
On Friday, Benavides placed 13th out of 30 swimmers in the 100-Yard Breaststroke. Her time of 1:04.26 earned her a spot in the consolation final Friday evening. In the consolation final, Benavides finished 16th to score one team point for the Rams.
Freshman
Lily Hsu also picked up team points with her performance in the 3-meter dive. Her score of 235.25 earned four points for the Rams and was third among all freshmen. It was the second time Hsu has reached a final, as she placed 16th in the 1-meter dive Wednesday.
The 400-yard medley relay team of
Julia Renna,
Mackenzie Thomas,
Jackie Triglia and
Abby Zadorozny placed 10th and picked up 14 more points.
Two other Rams just missed advancing through the prelims. Sophomore
Maddie Tetreault finished 18th in the morning trials of the 400 Individual Medley. She posted a time of 4:31.91. Davidson's Cynthia Huang claimed the final spot in the finals with a time of 4:30.54.
Similarly, sophomore
Mia Bonvissuto was 18th out of 59 entrants in the 200 Freestyle. With a time of 1:52.28, she was just 0.45 seconds off a spot in the consolation final.
Sophomore
Jackie Triglia had URI's top finish in the 100 Butterfly. Her time of 56.40 seconds was good for 22nd in the field of 55
Senior
Julia Renna was Rhody's fastest in the 100 backstroke. She placed 24th out of 44 with a time of 57.19.

What's Next
The Atlantic 10 Women's Swimming and Diving Championships concludes Saturday with five individual events and the 400 freestyle relay. The individual events will be the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, the 200 butterfly and the 1650 freestyle.
Rhode Island will be represented in each event by the following:
