How It Happened
Rhode Island won five of the final six events to come from behind and defeat Central Connecticut State 161-139 Saturday afternoon.

Visiting CCSU had won six of the first 10 events before Hannah Benavides provided URI with a decisive win in the 200-yard breaststroke. Benavides – who also won the 100-yard breaststroke – posted a time of 2:20.49.

Next, it was Ryley Kelly's turn, as she was victorious in the 500 freestyle. It was her second win of the day as well, as Kelly also won the 100 freestyle. Ella Hacker made it three straight wins for the Rams by leading a 1-2-3 finish for Rhode Island in the 100 butterfly. Hacker, Jenna Salem and Jackie Triglia swept the top three spots for URI.

The team momentum was slowed briefly when CCSU's Jewelle Maziarz won the 3-meter dive.

Rhode Island came right back with a victory from Julianna Tyler in the 200-yard individual medley. It was a 1-2 finish for the Rams, as Benavides placed second in the event. With the team victory secured, the URI quartet of Avery Potyrala, Megan Huntley, Abby Zadorozny and Kelly ended the day on a high note, winning the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:38.49.
