Day One Finals | Day One Prelims
How It Happened
Freshman
Lily Hsu set a program record in the 3-meter dive, winning the event and leading a dominant Rhode Island diving performance on the opening day of the Harold Anderson Invitational Friday.
Rhode Island's showing in the 3-meter dive helped the Rams keep pace with Vermont in the team standings. The Catamounts lead the field with 258 team points through six events. Rhode Island (224) and Holy Cross (200) round out the top three in the standings.
Hsu posted a score of 300.55 in the 3-meter dive (six attempts). Her score broke Ashley Good's longstanding mark of 285.45, which was set on Oct. 29, 2000. At more than 22 years old, it was the longest held record in URI's record book.
With her score, Hsu qualified for the 3-meter dive at the Zone A competition that will be held at West Virginia University from March 6-8. She and
Marta Baumann had qualified for the Zone A in the 1-meter event earlier in the season as well.
Rhode Island took the top four spots in the 3-meter dive. Behind Hsu were
Olivia Winslow,
Carleigh Schlissel and
Brianna Tocco, as Rhode Island picked up 53 team points in the event.
