    Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach
P.J. Nestler begins his second year as Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach at URI.In his role, Nestler is directly responsible for program design, testing and coaching of women's basketball, men's/women's soccer, men's/women's track & field, women's tennis, golf, volleyball and men's/women's cross country. Nestler also assists with the football and baseball programs while supervising in the training and managing of the department's interns.Before assuming his current role, Nestler worked as an Athletic Performance Specialist at Parisi Speed School in Morris Plains, N.J. His duties included the design and implementation of programs to improve all aspects of athletic performance. He worked with athletes of all ages and abilities ranging from youth and JV athletes, to high school all-americans and Division I collegiate athletes.Nestler also interned at Northeast Sports Training in Warwick before working as a student intern in URI's strength and conditioning department as a senior.Nestler is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Certified Personal Trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He's also a certified Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting.Outside of URI, Nestler is a strength and conditioning coach/consultant for Omoplata Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/Mixed Martial Arts in Wakefield. Nestler has also been training in mixed martial arts with the goal of fighting professionally in the near future.After transferring from the University of Arizona, Nestler earned a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Kinesiology from URI in the spring of 2009.
