JOSEPHINE T. LEES KIRN, the highly successful coach of women's sports, headed the Rhode Island State College Department of Women's Physical Education, was administrative secretary to the President of the College as well as an instructor of English from 1931-41. Her overall coaching record was outstanding: over 11 years, she compiled a record of 140-56-16 in women's varsity and junior varsity basketball and varsity field hockey. She became a very successful writer, editor and publisher.
