CHARLES E. FLAHERTY '31 retired as the only full-time business manager in the history of the URI Department of Athletics after 12 years of service. In the late 20s and early 30s, he won seven letters in football, baseball, and track. He scored the first touchdown in history against Brown University, was a member of the first Rhode Island relay team, and was the leading hitter on the baseball team. He retired as an Air Force colonel with 38 years of both active and reserve duty.
