KERRY P. MCKAY '79, a standout track performer at Rhode Island from 1975-79, captured the Yankee Conference outdoor title in the 100-yard and 200-yard dashes and second place in the 50-yard dash to begin his collegiate career. The following year, he was third in the 60-yard dash and second in the 100- and 200-yard dashes in the Conference indoor and outdoor meets. As a junior, he finished second in the outdoor 100- and 200-yard Conference championships. Captain of the team in his senior season, McKay finished his stellar career with a first-place finish in the 200-yard dash in the Conference outdoor meet and a second-place finish in the 100. He also helped Rhode Island to place first in the New England indoor mile relay event.
