LUIS S. CARVALHO '74 captained the Rhode Island soccer team for two years. He was a three-time letterwinner and All-Conference pick, as well as its top scorer all three years. In 1971 he was named to the University All-Star squad and helped guide the Rams to two league titles and the 1972 NCAAs. Later, as a coach, he was named the RI Volleyball Coaches Association Coach of the Year five of six years in the late 80s and early 90s. In 1993 he was named the state's Athletic Administrators Association Male Coach of the Year and in 1994 was Words Unlimited Coach of the Year. At the time of his induction, he had guided Rhode Island high school teams to three state titles and was four times runner-up. He won 13 division crowns.
