HUGO R. MAINELLI '30, prominent Rhode Island businessman and former chairman of the Board of Trustees for State Colleges, is one of the University's most distinguished graduates. For years he was an ardent supporter of URI and its athletic program in particular. Many feel strongly that without his support, the Rams' athletic program as we know it today would not exist. His work with administrators responsible for the growth of the program at Kingston is unparalleled in the history of the University.
