FRANCIS H. SHERMAN '49, who earned several varsity letters in track under the famed coach Fred Tootell, went on to an outstanding career as a teacher and coach at the schoolboy, collegiate and AAU levels. He was Rhode Island State Representative of the 42nd District for many years, and instrumental in the passage of several key pieces of legislation. Quite active in numerous organizations, both civic and professional, he was a solid supporter of his alma mater.
