JOHN M. BAXTER '52, a standout track athlete in the late 1940s, at one time held the Yankee Conference high-jump record. He won eight varsity letters and was a distinguished supporter of athletics, serving since graduation as a top officer in the URI Foundation, Alumni Association, Athletic Council, and Century Club. Baxter was also a successful insurance executive.
