JOHN H. ROLLINS '61, a two-sport letterman at Rhode Island, was a member of the football and track teams. An All-State performer at LaSalle, he was a star halfback for the Rams from 1957-60. A versatile performer, he led the Rams in rushing, receiving, punting and scoring in 1959. He earned a tryout with the Green Bay Packers in 1961 and the New York Giants in 1964. He played with the Providence Steamroller from 1961 to 1965 and was an assistant football coach at Brown in 1972. In 1989, Rollins was inducted into the Providence Gridiron Club Hall of Fame. A longtime member of the Providence City Council, he spent six years in the Marine Corps Reserve. An active member of the community, he established a scholarship fund at LaSalle.
