LEO F. DIMAIO became Director of Special Programs for Talent and Development in 1981, working closely with the University's Department of Athletics to help student-athletes pursue career aspirations. Before that, DiMaio was Assistant Director of the program for 12 years. He earned the Rhode Island Alumni Award and the University's Administrative Excellence Award and is a member of the LaSalle Academy Hall of Fame. He earned his bachelor's from Providence College in 1952 and, prior to coming to URI, served as director of recreation and inmate activity at the Adult Correctional Institution in Cranston.
