SALLY KELEHER-GOODWIN, '50, was an outstanding all-aroundathlete who participated in field hockey, tennis, and badmintonwhile attending the University of Rhode Island. Keleher was crownedclass tennis champion in 1949 and went on to defeat Anne Budlongfor the school championship. She also captured the Women's AthleticAssociation's badminton mixed doubles championship with Ken Goodwin(who she would later marry) after defeating Jean Royal and SamKatzen. Keleher, who served as the National President of thecollege division of the Home Economics Association, was chosen tobe a member of Sachems in 1949, an honorary organization composedof no more than 15 people based on creditable scholarship andactive participation in campus activities. She was a member of theDelta Zeta soroity and graduated from the University in 1950.
