DR. FRANCIS H. HORN, Honorary Class '67, was the University's sixth president, serving from 1958 to 1967. He was a solid supporter of the intercollegiate athletic program and very instrumental in the growth of athletics. He was responsible for the Tootell Physical Education Center, played a key role in the development of the Yankee Conference, and was a prime mover in URI's rise to prominence in varsity sailing and crew club. He retired as executive vice president of Wagner College, and is a member of the State of Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame.
