GARY E. KOENIG '62, one of the all-time great basketball players at the University of Rhode Island, performed in the late 1950s and early 1960s. URI's second-ranked all-time rebounder with 1,039, he later served as a U.S. Marine officer and was named All-Marine MVP in basketball. A very successful stockbroker and vice president of a prominent investment firm, he was very supportive of athletics.
