HAROLD W. "HAL" KOPP, Honorary Class '80, coached the only undefeated football team in Rhode Island history, guiding the 1955 Rams to a 6-0-2 regular season record and the school's first post-season bowl game appearance. He had the best won-lost percentage of any football coach at Kingston during his five-year career, and was New England Coach of the Year in 1955 and Rhode Island Coach of the Year in both 1953 and 1955. Even in retirement, he was the oldest active gridiron coach in the nation. Kopp is a member of the Providence Gridiron Club Hall of Fame and a former Rams radio analyst.
