WARNER M. "FLIP" KEANEY '41, son of the legendary Frank W. Keaney, was himself an outstanding athlete. A team leader, he helped develop his father's famed basketball fast-break. Winner of nine letters in baseball, basketball, and football, he captained both the basketball and football teams, and was All-East in football and All-Conference in basketball. He was awarded the LeBoeuf Award for outstanding senior athlete and is a member of the Providence Gridiron Club Hall of Fame. He devoted 30 years to teaching and coaching in Maine and Rhode Island. Upon retiring as a coach, he continued to teach at South Kingstown High. He was the Words Unlimited Rhode Island Schoolboy Coach of the Year in 1958.
