Lynn Lanzel LeValley ('88) established herself as one thegreatest track & field performers in school history by winningmultiple New England and ECAC titles during her career with theRams.

For her career, Lanzel LeValley was a five-time New Englandchampion, winning three outdoor titles in the hammer throw, onetitle in the outdoor shot put and one title in the indoor shot put.She also won five individual ECAC titles during her career. In1988, Lanzel LeValley set the school record in the shot put duringboth the indoor and outdoor seasons. Her throw of 49 feet, one inchat the New England Championship on Feb. 27, 1988 set theschool’s indoor record. On April 9 of that year, she set theoutdoor record with a throw of 48 feet, seven inches during the URIInvitational in Kingston. Nearly a quarter century later, both ofthose marks remain atop the URI record book.

A four-year member of both the indoor and outdoor track &field teams, Lanzel LeValley won individual titles in the shot putand 20-pound weight throw at the New England and ECACChampionships. She also represented URI at the prestigious PennRelays in 1987, finishing fifth in the shot put competition againstthe nation’s best throwers.


A standout in the classroom as well, she was a member of theDean’s List while earning her bachelor’s degree inaccounting.
