EDWARD J. COX '33, a nine-letterman in basketball, football, and track at Rhode Island State College in the early 1930s, captained the basketball team in 1932-33 and was an All-New England selection in 1932. A former president of the R.I. Club, he founded URI's Washington, D.C., Alumni Association Club in 1950. A lifelong supporter of URI athletics, he retired as personnel and emergency planner for the Federal Civil Defense Agency and Executive Office of the President.
