WILLIAM F. POLAND, JR. '60 was an outstanding football player and student at URI where he was an All-Conference fullback and linebacker for three seasons, as well as team captain. He had a distinguished career as a high school teacher and coach of football and track, and his 1974 team won the State's outdoor championship. He was Rhode Island Track Coach of the Year in 1980 and supported URI's athletic program for many years.
