EARL F. SHANNON '43, an outstanding baseball, football, and basketball performer in the early 1940s, won seven letters and captained the basketball team in 1943. He was an All-American in basketball and was awarded the LeBoeuf Award as the finest senior athlete. Shannon played professional basketball for the Providence Steamroller, and coached freshman basketball at URI for seven years and at Providence College for two years. A lifelong supporter of URI alumni and Century Club activities, he was Director of Security at Rhode Island College and a former FBI agent.
