THOMAS S. GARRICK '90 was a four-year letterwinner in basketball at Rhode Island from 1985 to 1988, playing with fellow Hall of Famer Carlton Owens. The pair formed one of the best backcourts in URI history. Garrick finished his career as the fifteenth leading scorer in school history with 1,573 points and scored a Conference and school-tying record 50 points against Rutgers in the 1988 A-10 Tournament enroute to MVP honors. Also earning second-team All-Conference honors that year, he helped lead the Rams to the NCAA's Sweet 16 and to the 1987 NIT. He went on to play in the NBA for parts of two seasons before playing professionally in Europe for eight years. He's also worked as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's basketball teams at URI.
