FREDERICK S. "BUD" CONLEY '41, a basketball and baseball star in the late 30s and early 40s for Rhode Island State, was captain and an All-New England selection in both sports. He was the 15th highest basketball scorer in Ram history at the time of his induction, with 1,395 points, and was the national foul-shooting champion in 1941. A six-letterman at Kingston, he played on the first Rhode Island team ever to score 100 points in a game as well as on the first to play in Madison Square Garden. He served as director of civil preparedness training in the URI Extension Division.
