FREDERICK J. LAKEWAY '59, a standout track star in the early 1950s, earned five varsity letters and held the University's 220-yard dash record of 20.7 seconds, recorded in May 1957. He received the coveted LeBoeuf Award as top senior athlete at URI and held the all-time 100-yard dash record until 1960. Lakeway had a distinguished career as a Navy aviator.
