HAROLD P. "WHITEY" FELL '81 hit .396 as a senior in 1961, the fourth highest batting average in team history, and earned first-team All-New England honors. The slugger went on to play in the Minnesota Twins farm system. Fell returned to Rhode Island after his playing days, earned an M.B.A., and became a business professor and head baseball coach at the Community College of Rhode Island, a post he held for 19 years. CCRI inducted him into its Hall of Fame and named its baseball field in his honor. He was inducted into the Rhode Island Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame and received the Ben Mondor Award in 1988. He also received the 1984 Frank Lanning award and, that same year, the Rhode Island Umpires Association's Edward Jansen Memorial Award.
