ANGELO M. GENCARELLI '22 retired as a very successful businessman who gave whole-hearted support to Rhode Island athletics and the University for more than 50 years. He played two years of football for his alma mater and received the prestigious Ram Award from the URI Alumni Association in 1947. He had three years of service on the URI Athletic Council and was an outstanding civic leader, with 22 years as a member of the Westerly Hospital Board and 21 years on the Westerly School Committee, including three terms as chairman. He was the first recipient of the Westerly Service to Youth Award, and won the coveted URI Award in 1962 for his community work.
