KRISTEN O'CONNELL FORD '84 was a standout performer in cross-country and track at Rhode Island. Team captain for two years, she qualified for the national cross-country championship, placing 47th in a field of 215. She was a two-time Rhode Island AIAW champion and was named All-New England in cross-country. She earned the Winifred Keaney Award in 1984 as the school's top female student athlete and received her master's in physical education at URI in 1986. A Section IV Interscholastic Hall of Famer, she was active in community service through the NCAA's "Athletes for Healthy Choices" program, in which student athletes act as peer educators at local high schools. She was associate athletic director at Ithaca College at the time of her induction.
