DAVID R. STENHOUSE '55, an outstanding baseball and basketball player at URI in the early-to-mid-1950s, was named to the All-Yankee conference in both sports and went on to play major league baseball for the Washington Senators. He was named to the American League All-Star team in 1962, and the same year was honored as Rhode Island's Athlete of the Year by Words Unlimited. An All-State performer in both baseball and basketball at Westerly High School, he was president of the URI Century Club and a solid supporter of the athletic program at Kingston. He became a successful insurance executive, and coached baseball at Rhode Island College and Brown University.
