DONALD C. ALMY '55, a three-year letterwinner in football for Rhode Island from 1951 to 1953, played fullback, linebacker and offensive guard. He once played 240 consecutive minutes and in both 1952 and 1953 scored the winning touchdown against intrastate rival Brown. In 1953, Almy earned honorable mention All-New England honors at fullback and was a member of that year's senior All-Star team. He went on to earn a master's in international commerce from George Washington University in 1971. From 1955 to 1975 he served as an Army officer, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a player/coach on the 1960 service football team at Ft. Riley, Kansas.
