ROBERT A. ADAMS '57, a trustee of the URI Foundation and a member of the University's Business Advisory Council, also served as Vice President of the Ram Par Club. He was one of only five people at the time of his induction to receive the Director Emeritus Award, the highest honor presented by the Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut. His community involvement led to the construction of three churches in Connecticut, and he conceived the idea of a national collegiate golf tournament, which now bears his name and is played annually in Newport, hosted by the University.
