TERRY LYNCH ('84) was a four-year letterman on the Rhode Island football team as a starting quarterback and tight end during his career. He ranks ninth all-time in career passing percentage and was named third-team All-New England as a quarterback in 1980, throwing for 1,193 yards and seven touchdowns, and rushing for four more. He was the team captain in his senior year of 1982 and moved from quarterback to tight end where he caught 18 passes, including three for touchdowns. After his football career, Lynch began a 15-year career as an assistant football coach for the Rams. He was the wide receivers and tight ends coach for the 1984 and 1985 seasons when the Rams led the nation in passing and won back-to-back Yankee Conference and Lambert Cup titles, making it to the Division I-AA semifinals in 1984 and quarterfinals in 1985. Lynch also was an assistant coach on the 1995 team that won the Yankee Conference New England Division title. He ended his coaching career at Rhode Island after the 1997 season to become an admissions officer at the New England Institute of Technology. He served as the athletic director and dean of students at Mount Hope High in Bristol, R.I. for two years and is currently an assistant principal at South Kingstown High. Lynch has been the color analyst for Rhode Island football radio broadcasts since 2001. Lynch and his wife Linda live in Wakefield, R.I. with their two children T.J. and Taylor Marie.
