LORENZO A. "LARRY" GALLO JR. '73, a four-year baseball letterwinner at URI, was a member of the 1973 All-Yankee Conference academic team. He followed his Rhode Island baseball career with an extensive career in athletics administration. He served as an assistant coach in the Cape Cod League before signing on as an assistant and later head coach at Notre Dame. He left there for Wake Forest where he was an assistant coach and an assistant athletic director. In 1990, he was promoted to associate director of athletics before moving to Indiana State as director of athletics. Later, he would go to North Carolina as senior associate athletic director, where he served as vice chair of the ACC Baseball Committee and chair of the Men's Soccer Committee. He was also director of the 1993 NCAA men's basketball tournament at Wake Forest.
