ALBERT A. "JOE" LEBOEUF '17 earned eight varsity letters in baseball and football, captained both teams, and was a star passer, runner and punter on the gridiron, playing both quarterback and running back. A natural leader, he was secretary of his senior class and a cadet Lieutenant in RISC's military battalion. Later, he was a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps and Assistant Provost Marshall in Paris; he was wounded in action in 1918. The prestigious LeBoeuf Award, given annually to URI's best senior male athlete, is named in his honor.
