WILLIAM C. VON WEYHE '57, one of the all-time great basketball players at URI, was an All-America, All-East, All-New England and All-Yankee Conference selection. A co-captain and three-year letterman, he ranked eighth on the all-time scoring list with 1,656 career points at the time of his induction. He was drafted by the Boston Celtics and named MVP of the worldwide All-Service basketball team when playing in the Pan-American Games as a representative of the U.S. Army. He later became a successful high school teacher and coach.
