ELEANOR R. LEMAIRE is credited with URI's rise to national prominence in women's athletics. She has received numerous honors, including major ECAC awards for women's athletic administrative excellence. She was inducted into the New Agenda-Northeast, Boston University, University of Bridgeport, and Town of Bristol Halls of Fame. Lemaire was Senior Associate Director of Athletics at URI, retiring in 1992 after 16 successful years. Her career spanned more than 40 years as an administrator, teacher, coach, and sports official.
