ELLEN QUANTMEYER BRUCKSHAW '88 became the first player, male or female, to score 1,000 points for Northern Valley High in Old Tappan, New Jersey, and was the first woman inducted into the school's Hall of Fame. Years later, she became the first woman to coach a high school boys' team in Rhode Island. From 1982-86 she piled up 911 rebounds at URI. A strong physical forward, the 5'11" star was among the top ten Rams all-time in five statistical categories at the time of her induction. She won the team's Hustle Award three times and was named best defensive player twice. The Rams won 19 games in her freshman season and 18 in her sophomore season, advancing to the finals of the Atlantic 10 Tournament. She twice led URI in field-goal percentage and helped the team set single-game records for rebounds and assists.
