WILLIAM E. RUTLEDGE '42, a basketball, baseball, and football standout in the early 1940s at Kingston, won seven varsity letters, captained both the basketball and baseball teams, and was the 24th highest scorer in Rhode Island basketball history at the time of his induction, with 1,102 points. He won the LeBoeuf Award as best senior athlete in 1942. A physical education teacher for the Pawtucket school system beginning in 1946, he coached basketball for 22 years and baseball for 18 years. He was also a Rutledge Golf professional at the Lincoln Country Club.
