SUSAN SCOTT BEEMAN '87 was a standout member of Rhode Island volleyball teams from 1982-85, setting seven match, season and career school records during her tenure on the URI court. Honored as the Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Year in 1985, she was named All-Conference in both 1984 and 1985. At the time of her induction, she was the only Rhode Island volleyball player ever to earn Atlantic 10 All-Tournament recognition four times (1982-85). During her career, the Rams posted a record of 105-57 (.648) and had records of 25-21 in 1982, 28-15 in 1983, 26-13 in 1984 and 26-8 in 1985. That year she helped lead Rhode Island to its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
