CHRISTOS "CHRIS" LATOS '55, a four-year football letterman for Coach Hal Kopp's legendary "60 Minute Men," started every game during his career at Rhode Island. A two-time member of the All-Yankee Conference team despite being an undersized 5'9", 189-pound guard, he was a member of the 1952 team that defeated Brown (7-6), which at the time was just the second win over the Bears in 38 tries. The Rams were 22-10 and won a pair of Conference crowns during Latos's three seasons at Kingston. In 1955, he was named to Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. He served in the U.S. Army for 24 years, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, earning two Bronze Stars, three Air Medals and numerous other commendations and service awards.
