PASQUALE J. "PAT" ABBRUZZI '55 holds 10 all-time University of Rhode Island football rushing records. His 306 yards in a single game stood for 20 years as the New England record. He was a Little All-American gridiron choice at URI and later All-League as a professional with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. Abbruzzi was named to the Alouettes' All-Time All-Star team. He also lettered in baseball and basketball at URI. He is a member of the State of Rhode Island Heritage, Providence Gridiron Club, and Warren Halls of Fame. Abbruzzi was a celebrated head football coach and teacher at Warren High School in R.I., where he resided.
