KENNETH B. GOFF '33 is believed to be only the second athlete in Rhode Island history and the first in modern times to win four freshman numerals and 12 varsity letters. Named an All-American in football in 1930 as the nation's second highest scorer, he also starred in baseball and track and co-captained the 1931 football team. He was a member of the URI Athletic Council and president and one of the founders of the URI Century Club. Goff played professional football for the Boston Braves and Providence Steamroller, and baseball in the Cape Cod League and in Brockton, Mass. He became a Rhode Island State Trooper in the mid-1930s and is a member of the Providence Gridiron Club Hall of Fame. He retired in 1969 after 33 years with the Internal Revenue Service.
